Equality
Equality objectives to be reviewed before March 2026
1 To further develop children's understanding, tolerance and appreciation of diversity in our community (at all levels - school, national, world).
2 To further promote pupils understanding of identity, diversity, community and equality, through a culturally inclusive curriculum which celebrates equality and diversity.
3 Ensure school's approach to mental health and behaviour is part of a consistent whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing.
4 Introduce CPOMs and Staff Safe software for monitoring child protection, safeguarding and pastoral and welfare issues - on-line management and recording of child protection, behaviour, bullying and other safeguarding areas of concern.
Protected Characteristics
We work to ensure that our pupils understand that:
There are no outsiders at Sedgley Park
Everyone is different
We celebrate our differences
We are all equal in our differences
The Equality Act became law in 2010. It covers everyone in Britain and protects people from discrimination, harassment and victimisation. Under the Equality Act, there are 9 protected characteristics.
Age
Disability
Gender reassignment
Race
Religion or belief
Marriage or civil partnership
Sex
Sexual orientation
Pregnancy and maternity
We actively promote these in our curriculum and work to embed them into our everyday ethos.
